South-East politicians pay gunmen, use them to win elections – Joe Igbokwe alleges

Joe Igbokwe, former Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Drainage and Water Resources, has alleged that politicians in the South-East implanted the security crisis in the region for political gains.
Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who was furiously reacting to the wanton killings going on in the region, alleged that politicians use the gunmen.
According to him, the politicians pay the gunmen, who are presently unleashing terror in the region, to help them secure victory during elections.
Igbokwe, in a post on Facebook, claimed that some of the politicians even use the gunmen as “security personnel.”
He wrote, “Since 2015, politicians in the SE have been using these gunmen to win elections. They use them to fight their opponents, they use them to settle family disputes, they use them to grab other people’s lands, they use them as security personnel. They pay them.”
The security situation of the region worsened recently, with daily reports of killings and abductions in virtually all the states in the region.
