Kidnap attempt thwarted near Abuja as army rescues injured couple
Troops of the Nigerian Army have stopped a kidnapping attempt and rescued a couple who were attacked by suspected bandits near Zuma Rock in Niger State.
The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday behind Zuma Rock, close to Chachi Village in Tafa Local Government Area.
This was revealed in a post shared on Thursday by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X.
According to the report, the soldiers responded quickly after hearing gunshots in the area.
“On arrival, they found a black 2008 Honda Accord with registration number KUR 395 AA abandoned in a pit. The car had bullet holes on its front doors.
“The army engaged the attackers in a shootout, successfully preventing the kidnapping and rescuing the vehicle’s occupants,” Makama wrote.
The victims, identified as Samson Audu from Bakusa, Dei-Dei, and his girlfriend, Joy Bassy, were injured in the attack.
Audu was shot in the right hand, while Bassy sustained a head injury.
Both were taken to Right Care Hospital in Dakwa, where they are receiving treatment and are said to be responding well.
