Gov Zulum sacks two commissioners, appoints new officials in cabinet shake-up

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has sacked two commissioners from his cabinet and announced their successors.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Dauda Iliya.
According to the statement, the commissioners affected by the reshuffle are those in charge of Environment, and Intergovernmental and Special Duties.
While thanking them for their contributions, Governor Zulum said, “We appreciate their services and wish them success in their future endeavours.” He then named Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan as the new commissioners to fill the vacant roles.
In a related development, the governor also announced the appointment of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the new Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.
Professor Balami, a seasoned scholar in Educational Psychology, is from Hawul Local Government Area in southern Borno.
His career began in the Borno State Ministry of Education between 1984 and 1988, after which he joined the University of Maiduguri.
There, he advanced through the academic ranks and became a professor in 2014.
He is affiliated with several professional organizations and has published extensively as both lead and co-author.
Congratulating him on his appointment, Governor Zulum encouraged him to bring his vast academic and administrative experience to bear in transforming secondary education in the state, saying,
“I urge Professor Balami to apply his wealth of experience in education both as an administrator and academician to improving the quality of secondary education in the state.”
The statement said all newly appointed officials have been presented to the Borno State House of Assembly for confirmation.
