2027: Tinubu must be removed – Lukman

Former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Salihu Lukman, has vowed that Nigerians would use their democratic power to remove President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

The ex-APC chieftain stated this while citing what he described as worsening economic conditions and failed leadership.

Lukman made the declaration on Wednesday, when he appeared as a guest on ‘News Day’, a programme on Arise Television, who spoke as one of the promoters of the opposition coalition now operating under the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

He stated that he stood with and campaigned for President Tinubu when he was in the APC, lamenting that he has failed with the feeling of reality of the living conditions of Nigerians.

“To that extent, therefore, as far as I’m concerned, we will exert our democratic rights to get him out of the place, but that will not in any way jeopardise any negotiation to protect issues of equity, inclusivity and what have you,” he said.

Lukman, who resigned from the APC in June 2024, cited internal crisis and the failure of the party’s leadership to implement necessary reforms.

Recently, has cautioned Senator David Mark-led national leadership of the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, against god-fatherism and imposition among the leaders at all levels.
