2026 World Cup: Date, venue for group stage draws confirmed

The draw for the 2026 World Cup will take place on December 5 in Las Vegas, ESPN reports.
FIFA has decided on the American city after ruling out venues in Canada and Mexico.
The tournament will be played across the three countries next year.
There will be 48 teams participating in the 2026 edition of the World Cup – an increase from 32.
“December 5, if I’m not mistaken, is precisely the day the draw takes place, or at the beginning of December,” Pachuca executive Pedro Cedillo said.
“I understand it will be in Las Vegas, and that’s where we need to be present to provide information about the city of Pachuca, the state of Hidalgo and the two venues we have.”
The draw was conducted at the Las Vegas Convention Center the last time the US hosted the World Cup in 1994.
