Charly Boy urges focus on electoral integrity, criticizes distractions

Veteran entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy or Area Fada, has called for a shift in national discourse toward electoral integrity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Tuesday, Charly Boy criticized what he described as unnecessary distractions dominating public attention.

“I don’t know why they do the things they do, but it seems to me silly and petty,” he said.

“Those are not the things we should be talking about right now. Those are not priorities. What our priority should be is about the 2027 election will our vote count? That’s what I think we should be talking about.”

DAILY POST recalls that the Bariga Local Council Development Area recently renamed the popular Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos after indigenous rapper and music executive, Olamide.
