WAFCON: Oshoala speaks on retirement from Super Falcons after winning 10th title

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has dismissed speculations claiming she is set to retire from international football.

Oshoala addressed the rumours while speaking to journalists after Nigeria’s 3-2 victory over Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final.

“I don’t know where that came from but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on,” Oshoala said.

The 30-year-old made Nigeria’s final 23-player squad for the tournament but played a supporting role throughout.

Oshoala’s international career began in 2013, and she has scored in three consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cups – becoming the first African player to achieve the feat.

The six-time African Footballer of the Year has now won four Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles: 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024.
