WAFCON 2024: Super Falcons never gave up against Morocco – Madugu

Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has eulogised his players for their resilience in the victory over the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco, DAILY POST reports.

Nigeria claimed a remarkable 3-2 victory over the hosts in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The West Africans trailed 2-0 after 24 minutes and were second best to the Moroccans for the majority of the first half.

Madugu rejigged his team a few minutes into the second half, introducing Omorinsola Babajide and Jennifer Echegini.

The move paid off, with the Super Falcons scoring three times afterwards through Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Echegini.

The gaffer said his players kept believing they would win the game.

“If they didn’t have mental resilience, they would have given up,” Madugu said.

“But they kept believing and they earned this victory.”
