Ruger donates 50 laptops to old school, grants scholarship to student

Nigerian singer-songwriter Ruger has made headlines for his generous gesture during a visit to his former secondary school as he donates 50 laptop computers to the school and awarded a full scholarship to a student who impressed him by singing.

The moment was captured in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @dammiedammie35.

In the clip, Ruger is seen presenting the laptops to the school’s management and addressing the students and staff.

He also singled out a student named Lucky Friday, who sang for him during the event, announcing that he would personally sponsor the boy’s education.

Reflecting on his own time at the school, Ruger spoke warmly about how impactful those years were for him, expressing gratitude for the foundation the school provided.

On behalf of my team, me and my family, I’m presenting 50 computer laptops to the school,” he said.

“We’re in the computer age. We want to use this so that our education in this school will be better and more efficient. This is not all we’re going to do for this school. As God continues to bless and uplift us, we’re going to do more.”

“The happiest part of my life was in this school, the most exciting part of my life was in this school. I thank my friends for also coming here. The boy that sang to me the other time, Lucky Friday – I was really touched by what he did and I’m willing to sponsor his education.”

The post quickly gained attention online, with many users flooding the comment section to commend Ruger for giving back to his roots and inspiring young students.
