Woman robbed of ₦8.5m and abandoned at Lagos Assembly while heading to work

A Nigerian woman was allegedly assaulted and robbed of ₦8.5 million while on her way to work, before being abandoned in front of the Lagos State House of Assembly in Ikeja.

This was revealed in a post shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by user @stainleesss, who detailed the disturbing incident.

According to the post, the woman was attacked early in the morning while heading to her office.

The assailants reportedly beat her severely and emptied her bank account of approximately ₦8.5 million. She was later dumped in front of the House of Assembly in Ikeja, with no security personnel in sight.

“She was brutally assaulted, and the assailants emptied her bank account of approximately 8.5 million naira,” the user wrote. “Afterward, they abandoned her in front of the House of Assembly in Ikeja. There wasn’t a single police officer in sight.”

The woman later made her way to the Ikeja Police Station to file a report but was referred to Alagbon, leaving her stranded.

“As a banker, she has managed to gather all the information about those involved,” the user added, expressing frustration that four weeks had passed since the incident with no apparent action taken.

The post sparked outrage online, with many X users expressing concern over the state of security in Lagos and calling for urgent police intervention.

@Ibukun420: “If she was protesting against hardship and a failed economy, they would have given her attention but to help an ordinary person who is not a politician? That one go be miracle o. You supposed tag Ben ten and Ire o.”

@ThreeLeftThumbs: “We need private detectives or law enforcement organisations in this country since the police have basically turned their service to pay as you go but still can’t operate competently.”

@smalltallest88: “Tomorrow somebody will wake up with sympathy for the police force when terrible things begins to happen to them.”

@xybox: “If the woman decides to use 50M to japa tomorrow, some myopic people will say she wasted money. She couldn’t get assistance from the police in her own fatherland.”
