Father kills daughter over disagreement about tennis coaching career

Radhika Yadav, a state-level tennis player, was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their Gurugram residence after a father-daughter career dispute.

According to police reports, Deepak was arrested the same day and has since been under interrogation.

He reportedly told authorities that he was disturbed by taunts from relatives and neighbours, accusing him of living off his daughter’s income.

He also admitted to being mentally distressed and sleep-deprived for nearly two weeks leading up to the incident.

Radhika, who had suffered an injury two years ago that halted her competitive career, had shifted focus to coaching young tennis aspirants.

Despite spending over ₹2.5 crore on her training, her father pressured her to shut down her coaching activities, insisting that his annual property earnings of ₹15 lakh were sufficient and that her ventures were unnecessary.

During a conversation shortly before her death, Radhika reportedly told her father, “You have spent ₹2.5 crore on me. I will not let that money go to waste. I will train young players using my experience.”

She also expressed interest in becoming a social media influencer and had previously shared reels and appeared in a music video.

However, under her father’s pressure, she was forced to delete her online presence.

The police investigation is ongoing.
