Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away on Thursday, July 3, had recently shared an Instagram post about his wedding ceremony with Rute Cardoso, which was held on June 22.
This would turn out to be his final post on social media.
Torizone had earlier reported that Jota and his brother, Andre, died in a car accident in the province of Zamora, Spain.

On July 2, 2025, Jota, on his Instagram account, posted a video of his marriage to his long-term girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, which took place on June 22, 2025, in Porto.
Alongside the video, Jota wrote: “A day we will never forget 🤍”
Meanwhile, police in Spain have confirmed they are investigating the cause of the incident.
Jota joined Liverpool from Premier League club Wolves in 2020 and made 182 appearances for the Reds.
The Portuguese lifted the 2024/25 Premier League title with Arne Slot’s side in May, having previously won the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups in his five years at Anfield.
